United Sound is an organization whose mission is to provide musical performance experiences for students with special needs through peer mentorship.

2026 DCI Summer

Each summer, Music for All's Summer Symposium, presented by Yamaha, has been a wonderful place of inclusion for ALL musicians. This summer topped them all with musical experiences, leadership sessions, and fun. We ended the day on a HIGH note "in the circle" with world class drum corp, Carolina Crown, playing music, games, and even sharing dinner with them at the food truck.

JOIN US FOR AN EPIC PERFORMANCE!

Our United Sound musicians have been invited to perform in exhibition at the Drum Corps International Arizona show, Drums Across the Desert. We'll be taking part in an encore performance with the Academy and Blue Coats Drum and Bugle Corps.

All Arizona United Sound musicians, past and present, are invited to perform!

Performance location:
John D. Riggs Stadium at Mesa Community College
1833 West Southern Ave.
Mesa, AZ 85202

Performance time:
The show starts at 8pm and our musicians will perform after the competition, before awards. Around 9:30pm. (It's late, but less hot!)

What will we wear?
All participants will receive a new United Sound shirt for the event. Please wear shorts and close-toed shoes.

Tickets:
Up to 2 family members per musician will be allowed an on-field seat during our performance for no charge. Stadium seat tickets can be purchased here: https://www.dci.org/events/2026-drums-across-the-desert/

Peer Mentors: Peer mentors that volunteer will be accepted on a first signed up-first chosen basis and will be relative to the number of new musicians who participate. We’ll let you know on a rolling basis as soon as we have your new musician partners.

Our musicians joined forces with veteran members of the Summer Symposium Drum Major track to increase the fun and learning - how to mentor and learning how to be musicians. What FUN we had together in a leadership workshop with Frank Crockett and Fran Kick!

These young people met one another for the first time a few hours before these photos were taken. Talk about “relationships that resonate!” Music is magical :)

After spending the day together, learning to teach and play we headed over to the stadium for a once in a lifetime experience with Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps!

Playing with these world class musicians “in the circle” is quite an amazing experience!

After the music, we were ready for FUN and GAMES!
