What is United Sound?
Rehearsals
You’ll meet once per week for 45 minutes. A typical semester might look like this:
Weeks 1-6: Rehearsals begin in the form of group lessons. Peer Mentors will help the New Musicians with first notes, sound production, and basic music reading.
Week 6: Peer Mentors create modified parts for each New Musician based on aptitude (It may be as simple as a 1-2 note melody)
Week 7: Continuing in group lesson format, students begin to learn the modified part that has been created
Week 9: Continue working in small groups and as an ensemble as you prepare to perform
Week 15: 1 Full Ensemble dress rehearsal (including New Musicians, Peer Mentors, and the rest of the members of the school ensemble).
Week 16: Perform!
Performances look different at different schools. You might even change between semesters.
