Grand Nats with College Band
We are so excited for the opportunity to perform with your BAND!
Here’s the general plan:
Our group will follow you around during warm up. Getting used to the noise is important and being a little bored helps to alleviate fear.
At the end of your warmup, please introduce our kids to yours and play through the tune twice. The mentors will need this practice to know how it starts and stops.
If there’s time and you’ve prepped your band, a little meet and greet time is super fun for our students and yours.
On field, you’ll do your entire show as planned and then add the one more tune with us in a standstill. Some bands plan to arc at the end of their show. Some, we just find a place within the last set. For example, with OSU, Script Ohio was their last song, so our kids ran out to the bottom side of the H. See below.
It takes a few moments to get into place, but the announcer will be telling the crowd what’s going on during this time.
What music can our students play? Anything of your choice. Please send us the score as soon as possible and we will write modified parts for each child. Some musicians play as little as one note when it is chord appropriate, so the difficulty level that the piece starts with does not matter.
On field examples:
Peer mentors will hold the music and assist as needed. There are no music stands or extra things If a student needs a chair, for cello as an example, we pull it off the sideline and run it out with them.
