Cobb Solicitor General Barry E. Morgan is a native of Cobb County Georgia, having graduated from North Cobb High School in 1972. He received his Bachelor of Music Education from Georgia State University in 1976. In 1987, Barry graduated Summa Cum Laude from the John Marshall Law School in Atlanta.
On March 4, 1998, Governor Zell Miller appointed Barry as the Solicitor General for Cobb County. He has been elected to that position five times, most recently with 62% of the vote. He has overseen the prosecution of 1.8 million criminal misdemeanor cases during his time as Solicitor General. Since becoming Solicitor General Barry has managed a staff of 70 personnel as well as managed a $4 million plus budget every year. Barry has served his entire legal career as a prosecutor.
Barry received two prestigious awards in 2014. In recognition of Barry’s outstanding performance as an elected official, the Cobb Republican Women awarded him their “Trumpet” award in January and in March Mothers Against Drunk Driving named Barry their 2013 Prosecutor of The Year for The State of Georgia.
